ME, MYSELFIE AND I

My name is JC Candanedo and I am a London-based Visual Artist. This is my fashion photography story called Me, Myselfie and I, which I shot back in 2014 at the beginning of the selfie craze that we now accept as normal.

There is a subconscious collective aspiration to have the unattainable lifestyles and body types that we see on social media every day. And the pressure to live up to the expectations of society in terms of beauty and life experiences has a serious toll in our mental health.

The series was created in collaboration with stylists Relle Douglas and Elizabeth Adina, Makeup Artist Christiana Amankrah and Hair Stylist Rachel Williamson. The models are Laura Egging and Nina Julietta from First Model Management.
